Electrical consultants for industrial design

What is backup power?

Backup power is a device that provides instantaneous, uninterruptible power. Industrial consultants for electrical design recommend backup power in industries as the power supply from the Discom may not be reliable. It also means that backup power is a source of electricity at all times.

Typically, electrical design consultants for industrial projects use backup power for industries, security systems, servers etc. The backup power is recommended in places where the loss of power impacts productivity or causes a significant impact financially. Moreover, downtime in industries is cost-intensive. Additionally, large equipment is more susceptible to power problems and needs reliable backup power. Electrical distortions, harmonics and transients may damage the equipment.

Criteria for selection of backup power

An essential criteria of the backup power is to start immediately after a power outage. The industrial backup power must be suitable for industrial conditions like dust, dirt, and chemicals. Moreover, the backup power should be eco-friendly. The life of a backup power system must be long-lasting. The electrical design consultants look for other features like equipment cost, fuel cost, availability of fuel and equipment startup time.

The electrical consultants must design backup power to cater to the requirement of the industry. The process may need backup power to shut it down or to continue until the main power is back. Similarly, the batteries required are based on the project requirements.

  1. The electrical design consultants should evaluate the risks and take steps to mitigate them.
  2. The electrical design consultants should design for emergencies.
  3. There should be a sufficient quantity of fuel.
  4. Ensure scheduled maintenance in the RFQ
  5. Ensure trained personnel.

Commonly used Backup power

The three commonly used backup power sources are UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supplies), Generators and Batteries.

Conclusion

To conclude, the electrical design consultants for industrial design must release the RFQ for the backup power with proper technical specifications.
