Why Engineering Consultation?
Each industrial project is a mission to be delivered within a specific time frame and specified cost for architects and consultants. The success or failure of any project is dependent on the planning, controlling and implementation of the following five factors. They are budget, timeline, complexity, quality of construction and the contribution of the project to the overall productivity. While not trying to belittle the knowledge of the Client’s team, specialist consultants can make lasting contributions to the project.
Unhindered by sales-driven opinion, they can push fresh ideas, latest concepts and can be unbiased in their approach. They can provide critical and relevant expertise, and shall play a significant role in shaping up the project. Therefore, the necessity of engineering consultation at the very early stage of a project cannot be overemphasized.
What is the process?
Architects and consultants start their project consulting with the consultant-client work session, which is more of listening and questioning. This ensures that the project is clearly defined and understood by the stakeholders of the Client, architects and consultants. Intimate and in-depth discussions between the consultants and the Client is essential to create projects of distinction and outstanding character.
During this session, the Client shall share the needs, wishes, limitations, expectations and ultimate goal of the project. Essential information like site details, construction methods, special features etc. will be discussed. Since each industry and each company within that industry is different, the solutions need to be tailored to specific needs. The goal is to take intentional steps to find the best solutions to the challenge at hand in the most efficient way.
The consultant, through his multi-disciplinary team approach, shall find solutions based on the knowledge, skill and experience across multiple industries. The architects and consultants shall present various design ideas based on budget, timeline and project quality expectations of the project.
In short, engineering consultation shall ensure that solution provided by architects and consultants is creative, environmentally sound and with long term relevance.
